Canning Classes!

Home / Recipes / Canning/Preserving / Canning Classes!

I’m excited to announce that I will be holding small canning classes in my Cobb Mountain home!  It is only September, which means we still have lots of opportunities for fresh, local produce.  Many of you have shown a strong interest in learning canning techniques, so now is your opportunity.  My kitchen is cozy, so I need to limit my class size to three guests, but I only need one person to teach a class.  If there is more interest, we can move to a larger kitchen.  My schedule is flexible for private sessions as well.  For those new to canning, check out my Home Canning Guide for Beginners.

The fruits and vegetables we will be canning are either locally sourced or from my own gardens.  If anyone has an abundance of produce, we will happily trade for some beautifully canned product.  You will also be helping your friends and neighbors on their journey towards sustainability as they learn to preserve their own food.

Canning Classes

Come to my kitchen, use my equipment, and I’ll provide wonderful produce and plenty of jars!

As the harvest continues, and beautiful produce ripens, I may add some last minutes classes, just to make sure the food doesn’t spoil.  Let me know if you would be interested in hearing about a “flash class”.  Also, if you have a special request, or a bounty from your garden, we can design something just for you.

Jammin’ Jams

Learn how to make low-sugar blackberry jam and sweet-hot pepper jelly.

I will teach you the principals of canning, then we will get to work with some hands-on experience.  You will also be able to take home a few jars of what you make.  I will provide everything, you just need to show up with a smile.

This class will run approximately 3 hours, though please allow for extra time, just in case.

Thursday, September 26th, 10am.
Class fee $30
